  • Do you destroy pharmaceutical and medical products?

Blue-Pencil provides incineration services for the disposal of pharmaceutical waste to manufacturers, distributors, hospitals, pharmacy retailers and other healthcare providers.

In case of safe disposal of pharmaceutical products, incineration is the destruction method of choice because its high temperatures work to destroy pathogens and toxic contaminations.

The incineration process, Waste-to-Energy (WtE), is a green energy source whereby the clean burning of solid waste creates electricity without creating any more pollution than the daily emission of 3 automobiles. The benefits of WtE incineration far outweigh placing of destroyed pharmaceutical products into a landfill where they can leach into the groundwater, despite treatment attempts.

Why Choose Blue-Pencil to destroy your Pharmaceutical Products?

    • Completely secure destruction
    • GPS tracked transportation
    • MOE approved carrier
    • Certificate of destruction provided
    • Environmentally-responsible disposal
  • Is the material shred on-site or off-site?

We have both an on-site shredding option and an off-site incineration option. Which option you choose is usually determined by the type and quantity of material for destruction. Our team will work with you to determine which method of destruction is best for your business.

  • How do you price your product shredding service?

Depending on the type of destruction you choose, the service is priced differently. On-site shredding is charged by the hour and off-site incineration is charge on a per pound scale.

  • How much material can be destroyed at one time?

The quantity of material that can be destroyed in a given day differs based on the type of product destruction you choose.

For on-site product shredding, we can shred approximately 10,000 pounds per day.

For off-site product incineration, we can remove and destroy trailer loads at a time.

  • Is your off-site incineration process bad for the environment?

Incineration is a waste treatment process that involves the combustion of organic substances contained in waste materials. Incineration and other high-temperature waste treatment systems are described as “thermal treatment”. Incineration of waste materials converts the waste into ash, flue gas and heat and reduces the amount of materials going to landfill.

  • Do you provide a detailed certificate of destruction for the material we destroy?

Any time you use Blue-Pencil for your shredding needs, you are issued a Certificate of Destruction.

For our product destruction service, the standard certificate contains the technicians name(s), date & time of destruction, product type & weight of material.

If required, we can provide additional details such as inventory counts.  Additional charges may apply for this service.

  • What size is the the material after shredding?

Any products destroyed using our on-site shredding process are cross cut to 5/8″ pieces.

At this time, we continue to provide our customers with shredding and storage services. Read our COVID-19 Position Statement for complete details.
